WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT OUR HOME
Ideal location! The house is within easy walking distance to the elementary and middle schools, Sleepy Hollow Park, and the walking path to Centennial Ice Arena. It is sheltered from noise, idling cars, insects, pests, and crowds. You can take a pleasant, invigorating walk to Fort Sheridan next to Lake Michigan and the Open Lands Nature Preserve, as well as to downtown Highwood and everything it has to offer. Two Metra train stations, Highwood and Fort Sheridan, are within walking distance. You are a short drive away from the beautiful Chicago Botanic Garden, Ravinia summer festival, Highland Park Public Library, High School and downtown Highland Park – full of fun shops and restaurants. Lake Forest is just to the north, with its charming downtown and nearby Discovery Park to explore in all seasons. You are also close to the award-winning Rosewood Beach. As a resident of Highland Park, you have free beach access and parking at Rosewood Beach, where you can swim, paddle board and practice beach yoga in the summer. All of this, and yet it is only a 30-minute drive to downtown Chicago.
Lush back yard! The wooded, landscaped lot is spectacular during all four seasons. Greenery is seen from all windows. It brings joy and tranquility and makes you forget how close you are to the busy, bustling city of Chicago. The yard has been maintained pesticide-free with organic fertilizer since 2011. It is safe for pets and children to roll around in the grass. There is also a fenced organic vegetable garden in the back yard for growing your own tomatoes and herbs, and a wooden playhouse for children to climb in the back corner of the lot, surrounded by lush vegetation. Come home from a busy day in the city and unwind in a harmonious, quiet environment. The layout of the house is also ideal. Having four bedrooms and two full bathrooms on the upper level is so convenient and practical. We love the split level design, because there is no long, steep staircase to climb. It is safe for both youngsters and the elderly. Even people who have difficulty navigating stairs find it easy and safe to go up and down in a split level house.
Gourmet kitchen and outdoor patio! The travertine stone floors, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances provide the perfect culinary environment for fun and enjoyable cooking for family and friends. In the spring, summer and fall, there is nothing better than to have dinner on the outdoor backyard patio under the shade of the black walnut trees. In the fall, you can harvest your own nuts! It is a fantastic and therapeutic retreat. Wonderful location with great neighbors and community engagement. A perfect place to call home.
